Who We Are
The Wilmot Garden Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization serving the Wilmot, New Hampshire community. Our membership consists of just over 100 local residents who share an interest in gardening, horticulture, conservation, and the beauty of our community.
Our Board of Directors, currently consisting of eight members, coordinates the club's programs, community projects, educational activities, and other activities throughout the year. We are pleased to have five Master Gardeners amongst our members.
Our aim is to enhance the beauty of Wilmot, NH, and to stimulate friendships, knowledge and the love of gardening while having fun!
Through gardening education, community garden projects, civic beautification, and activities that encourage the appreciation and stewardship of our local environment, the Wilmot Garden Club works to make a positive contribution to the community.
In the early 1980s, two gardening friends, Elizabeth Fielding and Nancy Schlosser, decided that the town of Wilmot needed its own garden club. With a few members and a lot of determination, the club was formed.
Over the years, the Wilmot Garden Club has grown into an active community organization with more than 100 members and a variety of educational, gardening, and community-support activities.
In 2018, the club obtained federal nonprofit status from the Internal Revenue Service and became a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
The Wilmot Garden Club is also listed on the Town of Wilmot website as the Town of Wilmot recognizes the Wilmot Garden Club as an integral part of the town's community spirit.

The Wilmot Garden Club plants and maintains ten community garden areas around public buildings and other community locations in Wilmot. These include window boxes, planters, and other garden areas at places such as the Post Office, Town Library, and Town Offices.
These gardens add beauty to public spaces and are maintained by club members as a service to the community.
Visit our Town Gardens page for a list of the gardens and a map showing their locations.
Each year on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, the Wilmot Garden Club hosts an Annual Plant Sale that benefits the community. Visit our Past Events page for information and photographs from recent plant sales.
Funds raised through the plant sale help support the maintenance of our community gardens, fulfill the club's nonprofit obligations, and fund our annual scholarship.
Since 2011, the Wilmot Garden Club has awarded the Walter Kangas Memorial Scholarship annually to a local resident student pursuing higher education in a field related in some way to gardening, the environment, or agriculture.
The scholarship is one of the ways the club supports the next generation while encouraging continued study and interest in gardening, environmental stewardship, and agriculture.
Toward the end of November, Wilmot Garden Club members gather at the Town Offices to create holiday swags and wreaths.
These decorations are then installed on town buildings and street signs throughout Wilmot, helping bring seasonal beauty to the community and creating another opportunity for members to work together on a community project.
