Upcoming Garden Club Events

Wilmot Garden Club has secured a Private Tour at the 2026 Christmas at the Fells Event for Wednesday November 11 at 10am. Complete Form and Send Check no later than 11/4/26: CLICK HERE

Other Activities of the club coming up soon include; planting of Mums and Spring bulbs in the post office planters by young gardeners from Wilmot Learning Place, submission of a themed wreath for the November Fells Holiday Tour and hosting the popular annual Greening of Wilmot project. During the 'Greening', WGC elves collect greenery from donor properties to decorate town streetposts and fill the post office planters with sprays of greens festooned with twinkle lights. The family oriented 'Greening' event to create bundled and bowed greenery sprays is scheduled on Saturday, November 21 from 1-3 pm on the sunny side of the town office building on the town green. All are welcome to participate!

Wilmot Learning Place’s budding gardeners helped the WILMOT Garden Club beautify the Wilmot Flat town center on Thursday, Oct. 1st. WLP preschoolers planted 10 beautiful mums (purchased from the school’s fundraiser this Fall) in front of the WILMOT Post Office. A big Thank you to our young gardeners!

WGC Annual Meeting and Dahlia Talk

A fine time was had by all who attended the Wilmot Garden Club's program and annual meeting on Sunday, September 27th at the WCA. The WGC board provided delicious refreshments, WGC board member and Corresponding Secretary Linda Colgan presented an informative talk on the yearround care of late season blooming Dahlias and three lovely framed art pieces by John Monto were won by lucky attendees.

Following her talk, Linda announced the launch of the garden club's new website - a platform everyone can visit to stay informed about club history, view town garden photos and plan to attend club sponsored events. The website address is www.wilmotgardenclub.org, visit it often as it will constantly be updated.

Field Trip to Tarban Gardens

On Friday, August 28, 2026, a group of eight Wilmot Garden Club members visited Tarbin Gardens in Franklin, NH. We packed our lunches and dined amongst the plants, flowers and birds in what was once a thriving "tea room". The visit was well worth our while as we wandered the paths between a barnyard filled with goats, chickens, and geese and into a vast home vegetable garden. There were formal gardens as well as a crumbling yet completely filled tropical greenhouse to explore. Pictures are shared here.

2026 Scholarship Winner Announced

On July 11, 2026, in front of dozens of Farmer's Market attendees and a group of Wilmot Garden Club members, the winner of the 2026 Walter Kangas Scholarship was announced. Rose Patrick accepted a certificate and check for $1,000 from the Wilmot Garden Club to defray costs related to her university education.

In addition to the scholarship presentation, we had a tent at the farmers market with activities for kids (rock paining, seedling giveaway) as well as a "Ask a Gardener" table where the public could ask questions or share gardening experiences. The market was well attended and our tent was well received.

Plant Sale 2026

WGC's fabulous volunteers helped us host a very successful plant sale on Saturday, thank you!

It didn't hurt that we had a big beautiful tent from Kearsarge Tent Rentals LLC with windows and

sides and gorgeous plant material from Jolly farmer to sell.

Lisah Carpenter and Laura Blundo did a great job leading the effort to put together this

multifaceted event. A big thank you to them for all the hours they put in!

Winter Seed Sowing for Native Plants

On February 21, 2026, the Wilmot Garden Club hosted “Winter Seed Sowing for Native Plants” at the WCA. In spite of the snowfall the day before the event, a good time was had by all. Master Gardener Donna Miller of Petals in the Pines explained the incredible benefits to wildlife provided by incorporating some native perennial plants into our gardens. After the presentation Donna expertly guided us in preparing and planting native seeds in containers to place outside to germinate.

Bench Dedication - October 2025

Members of the Wilmot Garden Club celebrated Margaret’s memory on Saturday, October 18, 2025 by gathering at the Wilmot town green to share stories on that gorgeous Fall day, then gathering for a catered lunch at a nearby garden club member’s home.

It was lovely to be with John, daughter Emily, son-in-law Rick and grandson Matthew. A good number of the Monto’s friends joined us as well making the occasion quite an enjoyable tribute to our good friend.
